About 18V

In short

Bosch’s 18V Home & Garden, commonly called “Bosch Green”, is the brand’s consumer cordless ecosystem, separate from the Professional Blue range. It covers DIY power tools and garden equipment under the “Power for All” alliance, including drills, sanders, jigsaws, lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers.

The platform uses a completely different battery connector from Bosch Professional 18V. Despite both being 18V Bosch products, they do not cross over in any direction, a Green battery doesn’t fit a Pro tool and vice versa. The Power for All alliance extends the platform across multiple brands including Gardena, Flymo, and Wagner, so a Green battery can also run garden, painting, and cleaning tools from those partner brands.

It suits people doing up the house, or buying their first drill, who mix DIY and garden jobs and don’t need trade-spec performance. If you’re on the tools every day, Bosch Blue (18V Professional) is built for that.

Strengths

  • Power for All alliance: the same 18V battery also runs Gardena, Flymo and Wagner tools
  • Bosch lists around 40 DIY, garden and household tools on it
  • SyneonChip technology adapts power output to the task for longer runtime
  • 2-year manufacturer warranty as standard

Considerations

  • A separate battery system from Bosch Professional (blue) 18V, so packs and tools do not cross over between the two
  • Built for DIY and home use rather than daily trade work
  • The 3-year MyBosch guarantee extension covers the tool only, not battery packs or chargers
  • Bosch publishes fewer specifications for green tools than for blue ones, so some figures show as Not listed

Questions

Which batteries fit Bosch Green (DIY) 18V tools?

The Bosch Home and Garden 18V system (green) uses the Power for All 18V battery, shared across Bosch’s DIY power tools and garden tools.

Can I use a blue Professional battery on a green tool?

No. The green DIY and blue Professional ranges are separate, non-compatible systems. ToolPicker lists the green tools under Bosch Green.

What is Power for All?

Power for All is Bosch’s cross-brand 18V DIY battery alliance, so one green Bosch 18V battery also fits partner garden and home brands in the scheme.
