In short
Bosch’s 18V Professional (“Blue”) is the brand’s flagship cordless platform for trades, 200+ tools spanning drilling, demolition, cutting, fastening, and measuring, all running on a single battery system that’s been backwards-compatible since 2005.
The platform uses two distinct battery families. The standard GBA range provides reliable everyday power for drills, drivers, and lighter-duty tools. The ProCORE range uses higher-output 21700 cells with intelligent battery management to deliver up to 87% more peak power than conventional batteries, comparable to corded tools of up to 2,000 watts. ProCORE batteries are required to fully unleash the performance of Bosch’s BITURBO tools (large angle grinders, SDS-Max rotary hammers, big circular saws).
The newest ProCORE18V+ (8.0Ah) uses tabless cell technology for up to 70% longer runtime in heavy-duty drilling applications. Every battery in the range fits every Bosch Professional 18V tool, regardless of when the tool was made.

Which batteries fit Bosch 18V Professional tools?
Every Bosch Professional 18V battery fits, from compact 2.0Ah packs up to high-output ProCORE18V packs. All slot into any Bosch Professional (blue) 18V tool.
Are Bosch blue and green batteries interchangeable?
No. The blue Professional and green DIY ranges use different, non-compatible battery systems. A green DIY battery will not run a blue Professional tool.
What is ProCORE18V?
ProCORE18V is Bosch’s high-output 18V battery. It uses higher-grade cells for more power and unlocks full performance on the Biturbo tools. Standard 18V batteries still fit, but ProCORE gives the top end.
Can I use a bigger battery on a smaller tool?
Yes, and you gain runtime, but the larger ProCORE packs add weight and length that can unbalance a compact tool for overhead or extended use.
