About Einhell

In short

Einhell is a German tool maker, founded in 1964 in Landau an der Isar and still family-controlled, selling in the UK through Einhell UK. Its cordless tools all run on the Power X-Change 18V battery, which Einhell says powers over 350 tools across power tools, garden and household kit; the larger 36V tools simply take two 18V packs. The range comes in three lines. Classic (TC) and Expert (TE) are built for DIY, and Einhell’s warranty does not cover them in trade use. Professional (TP, in red, launched in 2025) is aimed at trades, is covered for commercial use, and uses brushless motors. The battery is the same across all three, so a DIYer can step up to Professional tools without changing packs. Check the line before you buy: a TE and a TP tool can look alike, but only the TP is warranted for work on site.

Strengths

  • One Power X-Change 18V battery across Classic, Expert and Professional tools, plus garden and household kit
  • 36V tools run on two of the same 18V packs, so there is no second battery system
  • 3 years on tools and batteries when registered within 30 days
  • 10-year motor warranty on brushless tools when registered
  • The Professional range is warranted for trade and commercial use

Considerations

  • Classic and Expert tools are not covered by the warranty in trade use, so trades should buy Professional (TP) tools
  • Registration within 30 days is needed for the third year
  • Since the 2025 reshuffle some Professional tools still carry older TE model codes at retailers, so check the listing says Professional
  • Some bigger tools need a minimum pack size, so older small packs can be underpowered
  • The Professional range is young: Einhell expects it to reach about 128 products by the end of 2026

Questions

What is the difference between Einhell Classic, Expert and Professional?

Classic and Expert are Einhell’s DIY lines; Professional is its trade line, launched in 2025 and branded in red. The practical difference is the warranty: Einhell does not cover Classic or Expert tools used for trade or commercial work, but it does cover Professional tools.

Do Einhell DIY and Professional tools use the same battery?

Yes. Every Einhell cordless tool runs on the Power X-Change 18V battery, whichever line it is from, and the 36V tools take two of the same 18V packs.

What warranty do Einhell tools have?

Two years as standard, three if you register the tool in MyEinhell within 30 days. Power X-Change batteries also get three years when registered, and brushless motors get ten years on the motor.

Is Einhell good enough for trade use?

Choose from the Professional (TP) range. Einhell builds and warrants those for commercial use, while Classic and Expert tools are meant for DIY.
