The verdictOur take

The DHP486 is a high-torque 18V LXT brushless combi at 130Nm, drilling 16mm in masonry and 50mm in wood, though at 1.67kg bare and 2.31kg with a 4.0Ah battery it is one of the heavier Makita combis. The power suits heavy mixing and large-diameter work. We rate it the choice for LXT owners needing serious torque; the DHP492 edges it on outright torque, while the DHP485 is lighter for everyday tasks.
