The verdictOur take

The DHP487 is Makita's sub-compact 18V LXT brushless combi at 1.3kg bare, a 2-speed 40Nm drill for tight access and overhead work. It trims torque and capacity for a shorter, lighter body. We rate it a good choice where size matters more than power; for general trade drilling, the DHP485 or DHP486 give more grunt.
