The verdictOur take

The DVC157L is Makita's twin 18V LXT brushless L class dust extractor, taking two 18V packs, with a 15L container, 40 l/s of airflow and 11 kPa of suction at 7.3kg bare. Sold body only, it is ready for Makita AWS through the WUT01 wireless unit and has a 3.5m hose, suiting cordless saws and sanders on dry general and wood dust, with a filter you shake clean by hand. We rate it a good cordless extractor for LXT users; the DVC867L is the 8L version at 6.9kg, and the 40V VC004GL moves 48.3 l/s into the same 15L.

Tool weight worked out by adding each pack's weight to the bare tool, using the makers' figures. It takes two batteries, so each figure includes two packs. The maker's own with-battery figure can differ slightly. We may earn a commission on retailer links.
