About 18V Twin (36V)

In short

Festool’s 18V Twin platform covers the Festool tools that take two standard 18V packs at once for 36V. On ToolPicker that means the TSC 55 K plunge saw and the CTLC and CTMC SYS, MINI and MIDI cordless extractors.

The batteries themselves are the same as the rest of the Festool 18V range; no separate Twin batteries exist. Your existing Festool 18V packs run these tools too, except the compact BP 18 Li 3,0 C, which Festool excludes from the TSC 55 K and the CTC MINI and MIDI extractors. Festool recommends using two matched batteries of the same capacity for consistent runtime.

Some Festool tools, such as the KAPEX KSC 60 mitre saw, run on one or two packs; we list those under Festool 18V.

Strengths

  • Uses standard Festool 18V batteries: no separate Twin batteries to buy
  • Cordless plunge saw and M and L class extractors on the same 18V packs
  • Existing Festool 18V packs carry over (all except the compact 3.0Ah C pack)
  • Same AIRSTREAM, Bluetooth, and Festool App features as the rest of the range

Considerations

  • Requires two batteries per tool: runtime calculation halves vs. a single-battery tool
  • For best results, use two matched capacity batteries: mixing capacities is allowed but the lower battery limits runtime
  • Twin-battery tools are heavy compared to single-battery equivalents
  • The compact BP 18 Li 3,0 C pack isn't approved for these tools

Questions

How does Festool 36V Twin work?

These heavier-duty Festool tools, such as the TSC 55 K plunge saw and the CT cordless extractors, take two 18V batteries at once to deliver 36V, while keeping you on the Festool 18V battery system.

Which batteries do they need?

Two Festool 18V batteries, ideally a matched pair of the same capacity and charge level.

Do all my Festool 18V packs fit?

All except the compact BP 18 Li 3,0 C, which Festool excludes from the TSC 55 K and the CTC MINI and MIDI extractors.
