Physical & Build
The DDF490 is an 18V LXT brushless drill driver, a 2-speed 50Nm tool reaching 1,900rpm with a 13mm keyless chuck and 20 torque settings. At 1.0kg bare it is the lightest Makita 18V drill driver here with a conventional chuck, and it drills 38mm in wood. We rate it a good light pick for second fix and fitting; the DDF485 is its near twin at 1.1kg with 21 torque settings, and the DDF489 steps up to 73Nm.
